Making a background is really very easy. Just follow the steps listed below, using Paint Shop Pro , and you'll be remodeling your web pages all the time and using your very own original graphics.

Please keep in mind that these tutorials were made for PSP version 4.12!

Tiled Backgrounds

1. Open a new page and size it at 100 x 100, background color white and image type 16.7 million colors.

2. Use the eyedropper and pick a color from the color pallet.

3. Click on "freehand" (it looks like a rope) and go to the little white box you created.

4. Draw a shape (it doesn't matter what kind of shape but squiggly ones are best) and make sure you begin and end at the same spot so that when you you release the mouse button you have the blinking lines going around the shape you made.

5. Click on "flood fill" and move to the shape you made. Left click on the shape and it fills up with the color you chose. Click on the "magic wand" and then left click on the shape you just filled with color. This stops the blinking lines.

6. Now go through the same process as above only use a different color this time.

7. Once you have all the color you want in the box click on "image", "deformations" and "motion blur".

8. When the menu pops up play around with the direction dial by moving it with your mouse pointer till you get a look you like. Click OK.

9. Now click on "image", "enlarge canvas" and size it at 200 x 200.

10. Click on edit, copy.

11. Click on edit, paste as transparent selection.

12. A new image shows up on the box. Hold down the left mouse buton and line the new image up in the upper right corner. While the blinking lines are still moving go to "image", "mirror".

13. Click on edit, paste as transparent selection.

14. Line up the new image in the lower left corner of the box. Go to "image", "flip".

15. One more time go to edit, paste as transparent selection.

16. After you have this last one lined up go to "image", "mirror", then "image", "flip".

17. Use the magic wand to stop the blinking lines.

18. Now go to "image", "resize" and make the box 100 x 100 again.

19. You now have a basic full page background. Save it as a noninterlaced GIF.
